Termites — a silent enemy
At RapiPlaga we invest in technology to ensure we are always up to date with the very latest available.
For years, our trusted ally in termite diagnosis has been the acoustic system. This acoustic technology allowed us to locate many infestations by “listening” to insect activity within the wood. It delivered excellent results and helped us protect hundreds of homes.
But technology moves forward, and so do we.
Today we are taking a giant leap, leaving purely acoustic detection behind and stepping into the era of Precision Radar.
The Evolution: From acoustic detection to microwave radar
Whilst the acoustic detection system relied on capturing sound (which could sometimes be affected by background noise from the street or the property itself), our new iTraker device uses microwave radar technology.
What is the key difference? We no longer need termites to “make noise” or tap against the wood in order to find them.
- Before: We listened for vibrations.
- Now: We detect actual physical movement through walls, regardless of ambient noise.
Surgical precision without building work
The world's most advanced termite detection.
With this new addition, the RapiPlaga team can scan your walls, frames, and beams with far superior reliability. The iTraker cross-references three key data points for a more accurate diagnosis:
- Motion Radar: Sees through brick, plasterboard, and wood.
- Moisture Sensor: Locates hidden damp areas where the colony thrives.
- Temperature Sensor: Detects thermal changes associated with biological activity.
What does this mean for you? Faster diagnoses, fewer false alarms, and a more precise location of the source of the problem — without the need to drill simply to investigate.
At RapiPlaga, we continually upgrade our toolkit to ensure we always offer you the most advanced solution on the market. If you suspect activity in your home, put us to the test.

The serious risk posed by termites
Many people think termites are just a “nuisance pest”, but at RapiPlaga we know they are, quite literally, a nightmare for those who suffer them. The real danger is not that they eat through a door frame — it is that they work in silence, devouring wood from within. This is particularly dangerous when the structure of the property is timber-framed or contains high-value furniture.
By the time the damage becomes visible on the outside, structural integrity is often already compromised, causing the property’s market value to plummet.
And a word of serious caution if you are thinking of selling, or have just bought a property. From our daily experience dealing with property disputes, the discovery of termites after contracts have been signed is a legal nightmare. It is considered a serious “hidden defect” that may entitle the new buyer to cancel the transaction (withdraw from the purchase) and seek substantial damages from the seller. This is no trivial matter: a timely, thorough diagnosis protects your finances, keeps you out of court, and safeguards the value of your home.
