It is a very common (and understandable) recommendation in our sector, given how extremely difficult it is to treat this kind of complex furniture with traditional methods.

Why are today’s bed bugs so hard to kill?
The problem comes down to two factors: bed bugs hide extremely well, and they have developed a powerful genetic mutation that makes them practically immune to the usual chemical insecticides (pyrethroids).

Liquids don’t penetrate: insecticides physically cannot get through the dense memory foam of a mattress or reach the inside of electric motor housings.
Steam damages electronics or doesn’t reach everywhere: many people resort to injecting very hot steam. The problem is that steam is water: it rusts the gears and causes short circuits that end up frying the control boards of adjustable beds. The finishing touch: silicon dioxide. We combine the heat with a desiccant powder (amorphous silicon dioxide) applied to the structural cavities. It is a natural mineral that destroys the bed bugs’ waxy outer layer and dehydrates them. As it acts physically rather than chemically, they cannot develop resistance to it.
