Bed bugs in Marbella

Bed bug bites in Marbella? Here is how we can help

Marbella is a luxury destination, with a constant coming and going of travellers from all over the world. Five-star hotels, holiday apartments and rental villas receive thousands of suitcases every month. And that is exactly where, in the folds of the luggage, one of the most unwelcome and hardest-to-eradicate passengers travels: bed bugs.

Having bed bugs does not mean your home is dirty. These tiny blood-sucking insects are the world’s best hitchhikers. All it takes is sitting on a sofa in a waiting room, staying in an infested hotel or having guests at your home in Marbella for a single fertilised female to start a real nightmare in your own bedroom.

The 3 signs that give bed bugs away (before you see them)

Bed bugs are masters of hiding. They are nocturnal and hide in mattress seams, headboards, sockets and skirting boards. You will rarely see them in broad daylight, but they leave unmistakable traces:

  1. Bites in a line or zigzag: unlike mosquitoes, bed bugs usually bite several times in a row as you move in bed. You will see 3 or 4 red welts grouped together, which are also extremely itchy.

  2. Rust-coloured stains on the sheets: when you accidentally squash them in your sleep, or after they digest your blood, they leave small rust-coloured or dark brown stains on the sheets or mattress.

  3. A sweet, unpleasant smell: when the infestation is already large, the pheromones they release leave a distinctive smell in the room, similar to very old coriander or rancid almonds.

The mistake that will cost you your mattress and furniture

When people discover bed bugs, they panic. The first thing they do is buy bug bombs at the supermarket or spray the mattress with strong chemicals. This is the worst mistake you can make.

Household insecticides do not penetrate deep hiding places and, most critically, no household insecticide can kill bed bug eggs. All you will achieve is to irritate them and make them flee to other rooms, spreading the infestation throughout the house. In the end, out of desperation, many people throw away very expensive mattresses, bed bases and sofas.

The technology that saves your furniture: heat treatment

At RapiPlaga we understand the huge psychological impact bed bugs have. Nobody can sleep peacefully knowing they are dinner for hundreds of insects. That is why we have brought to Marbella the definitive technology that does not force you to throw your furniture away: heat treatment.

Bed bugs and their eggs are biologically unable to survive temperatures above 50 °C. With our specialised machines, we raise and control the temperature of the affected room, so the heat penetrates mattresses, wood and the inside of the walls.

The result? In most cases one treatment is enough, with follow-up afterwards. No harmful chemicals on your mattress, no surviving eggs, and you save all your furniture.

If you have woken up with strange bites or suspect you brought “company” back from your last trip, don’t waste a minute. Visit our specialised services page and find out how we can help you sleep again by clicking here
